Description
This recipe utilizes black tea kombucha and fresh fruits to bring out the best flavors. It’s not only a delicious treat to enjoy any time of day, but it also packs a probiotic punch.
Ingredients
- 4 ounces of black tea kombucha
- 1⁄2 banana
- 1 cup strawberries
- A handful of ice cubes
- 1⁄2-inch ginger knob
- 3 tablespoons shredded unsweetened coconut
Instructions
- Put the strawberries and ginger in a high-speed blender and blend for 5 seconds.
- Add the banana, coconut flakes, and ice. Blend for 10-15 seconds or until the mixture is smooth.
- Stop blending and pour the smoothie into a serving cup.
- Garnish with chia seeds, banana slices, raspberries, blueberries, or coconut shreds. (Optional)

Notes
Black tea kombucha is my choice for this recipe, but white or green tea kombucha works well, too.
If you use frozen bananas and strawberries, don’t add ice.
You can use freshly grated or store-bought, packaged coconut shreds in equal amounts.
Add a few tablespoons of almond or coconut milk to make it creamier.
Coconut shreds go rancid quickly if not stored properly. Before mixing, uphold proper storage practices by keeping them in an airtight container in the fridge. They can last for up to six months that way.
Make a smoothie bowl by adding a few extra ice cubes to the blender. Pour the smoothie into a bowl and top it with granola, peanut butter, cacao, hemp seeds, etc.
