Strawberry Kombucha

  • Total Time: 4 days
  • Yield: 16 Servings 1x

Description

This recipe is very versatile. Use fresh or frozen strawberries and your favorite kombucha tea base. White, green, or black tea complement strawberries exquisitely.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 gallon of kombucha, after the first fermentation
  • 1 cup strawberries, cut in half

Instructions

  1. Puree the strawberries with a blender or food processor.
  2. Divide your kombucha evenly among your glass bottles. Make sure to leave about 3 inches of headspace at the top.
  3. Evenly divide the strawberry puree among your bottles, leaving a 1-inch headspace.
  4. Seal your glass bottles tightly.
  5. Let them ferment at room temperature for 3-5 days. The warmer it is, the faster your kombucha will second ferment.
  6. After 3 days, open 1 bottle and taste your strawberry kombucha. If you enjoy the taste, refrigerate your glass bottles to stop the fermentation. If you want a sweeter or stronger strawberry flavor, let your bottles ferment for 1 or 2 more days before refrigerating.
  7. Strain before serving, or enjoy as is!

Notes

Use fresh or frozen strawberries in this recipe. Thaw frozen berries before chopping or blending.

If you don’t have a blender or food processor, finely dice your strawberries and distribute them evenly among your glass bottles.

Add a shot of gin upon serving for a refreshing cocktail, or pour your strawberry kombucha over ice cream to create a strawberry kombucha float!
