  • 1⁄2 frozen banana
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh-squeezed lime juice (approximately one lime)

Instructions

  1. Put fresh blueberries and a halved banana in the freezer for three to five hours. Once frozen, remove the fruits from the freezer and continue with the recipe.
  2. Combine 4 ounces of black tea kombucha and fresh lime juice.
  3. Put the kombucha and banana in a blender. Blend the mixture for 10 seconds.
  4. Add the blueberries and blend for another 10 seconds.
  5. Pour the smoothie into a serving glass.
  6. Garnish with chia seeds, fresh mint leaves, banana slices, or cashews. (Optional)
  7. Enjoy!

Notes

If you don’t have frozen fruits, use fresh ones. Just remember that the smoothie will have a more juice-like consistency.

Use green or oolong tea kombucha if you don’t have black tea. Consider using a flavored base, such as ginger kombucha, for even more flavor.

Lemon juice is a suitable substitute for lime if that’s what you have available.

What Does a Blueberry Lime Kombucha Smoothie Taste Like?

A blueberry lime kombucha smoothie is a kombucha flavor that’s deliciously sweet and complex. It has a surprisingly rich and well-balanced taste, attributed to the diverse and delectable fusion of ingredients.

This smoothie is sweet, earthy, fruity, and slightly sour. The banana provides the smoothie with a bit of creaminess, whereas the blueberries give the drink its signature sweet tartness. The citric notes from the lime juice are also noticeable, adding flavor complexity to the drink.

Of course, the black tea kombucha provides a mellow and tart backdrop that allows the other flavors to shine. Overall, this kombucha smoothie tastes fantastic and is a perfect drink to indulge in during the summer months.

Unlike other homemade kombucha drink recipes, this recipe has almost no carbonation.

Should You Make This Recipe with Young, Sweet Kombucha or Older, Sour Kombucha?

A younger kombucha variant works best for this recipe. The sweetness of young kombucha cuts through the lime juice’s sharpness and the blueberries’ tartness, making it all blend more seamlessly.

If your kombucha brew is older and sourer, you may use that (and the accompanying SCOBY) as a new starter tea to develop a fresh batch of kombucha. This way, you’re ensuring nothing goes to waste.
